Charles Martin Hall was an American inventor, businessman, and chemist. He is best known for his invention in 1886 of an inexpensive method for producing aluminum, which became the first metal to attain widespread use since the prehistoric discovery of iron. He was one of the founders of Alcoa, along with Alfred E. Hunt; Hunt's partner at the Pittsburgh Testing Laboratory, George Hubbard Clapp; Hunt's chief chemist, W. S. Sample; Howard Lash, head of the Carbon Steel Company; Millard Hunsiker, sales manager for the Carbon Steel Company; and Robert Scott, a mill superintendent for the Carnegie Steel Company. Together they raised $20,000 to launch the Pittsburgh Reduction Company, which was later renamed Aluminum Company of America and shortened to Alcoa.

Savo Hall, also known as the Finnish National Society Hall, is a historic meeting hall in Savo Township, Brown County, South Dakota. The hall was constructed in 1899 to serve as a meeting place for Savo's Finnish-American community. The Finnish National Society of Savo, formed the previous year, built the hall; the society consisted of Finnish-American residents of the area and largely consisted of members of the local Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church. The hall hosted a variety of social functions, including theatrical and musical shows, sporting events, and temperance meetings. Of the four Finnish-American social halls built in South Dakota, the hall is the only one still in existence.

The Wo Hing Society Hall was a building located at 858 Front Street in the Lahaina Historic District in Lahaina, Hawaii. Built around 1912, it served the growing Chinese population centered in Lahaina, primarily those working in the sugarcane industry as a social and fraternal hall for the Wo Hing Society. By the 1940s the declining Chinese population in Lahaina slowly made the building redundant and the property was neglected.
