The exam comprises a written part and an oral part. The written part tests reading comprehension, listening comprehension, and writing skills. The written part is followed by the oral part, which tests speaking abilities.
Czech citizenship: the CCE–B1 and above is equivalent to the Czech Language Exam for Czech citizenship.
When applying for permanent residence as non-EU citizen in accordance with § 68 of the Act on the Residence of Foreign Nationals (i.e. after 5 years of continuous residence in the Czech Republic), a mandatory requirement of the application is a Czech language exam certificate.

Pursuant to Section 14(4) of the Czech Citizenship Act, the Czech Language Exam need not be taken by the following individuals: 1 As of the 1st January this year, an amendment to the Citizenship Law of the Czech Republic requires foreigners wishing to obtain Czech citizenship to demonstrate, on top of their knowledge of the Czech language at a B1 level, knowledge of the basic facts about the Czech Republic via a Czech Life and Institutions Exam.
