Data aire compressor short cycle warning

Each manufacturer may have a different acceptable range of starts per hour, but some customers may request more or fewer starts than recommended.
Cycle length and frequency are keys to system longevity.
So, we can prevent compressor short cycling by keeping the system operating within the manufacturer's specs.

The alarm is programmed (ON or OFF) through sub-menu 4-8.
A compressor short-cycle alarm will activate if the compressor has been energized ten (10) times in a one (1) hour period 2.
The alarm is a warning only.

Pressure or temperature control differential is too small: When the pressure controller’s low pressure differential is set too tight, it can cause the compressor to short cycle.

This can be observed during normal cooling when the low pressure setting is reached and the compressor cycles off until the pressure in the evaporator rises above the high side of the low pressure setting.
This results in longer times to achieve set point and greater energy use.
