What is tropical dendrology?

The subject matter in tropical countries should be called tropical dendrology, or the taxonomy of tropical trees, in order to distinguish it from a course in dendrology as taught in a university of the United States or Europe

Those countries and continents of the Temperate Zone have trees very different from those of tropical regions

Dendrology, also called forest dendrology or xylology, study of the characteristics of trees, shrubs, lianas, and other woody plants. Dendrology is generally considered to be a branch of systematic botany or forestry and is primarily concerned with the taxonomy of woody species.
