  • More than 650,000 Service members served in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm from August 2, 1990 to July 31, 1991.
    For VA benefits eligibility purposes, the Gulf War period is still in effect.
    This means that anyone who served on active duty from August 2, 1990, to present is considered a Gulf War Veteran.

Can I receive dental care from the VA?

Veterans Dental Care By law the Department of Veterans Affairs cannot provide dental care to all veterans enrolled in it's medical program.
Veterans dental care is limited to those who fall into one of the following groups:

Is dental covered by VA?

VA will be able to continue dental insurance services indefinitely.
Veterans who are enrolled in the VA health care system and beneficiaries and their dependents of the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the VA (CHAMPVA) can enroll in the program.

Who is eligible for VA dental care?

The VA Regional Office Rating Decision will identify the dental care that is needed, but you must have a noncompensable dental condition or resulting disability from your time in service.
Class V:

  1. You are eligible for any needed dental care if you are engaged actively in a 38 USC Chapter 31 vocational rehabilitation program
