Work on several pieces at once
Working in series – completing several paintings or drawings at one time – is a very helpful strategy for Art students.
This speeds work up for a number of reasons: A single colour can be used throughout a number of works, without needing to stop for remixing / washing brushes..
1Practice Your Art Skills Every Day.
2) Study Colour Theory.
3) Study Value Scales.
4) Learn New Skills from Tutorials, Videos, or Books.
5) Develop Your Art Style by Studying Your Favourite Artists.
6) Learn from Reference Photos.
7) Break Complex Forms Down into Simple Shapes.
8) Warm Up Before You Create New Art..
Among the first art objects are decorative artifacts from Middle Stone Age Africa.
Containers from that period have also been discovered in South Africa that may have been used to hold paints dating as far back as 100,000 years ago..
Contrast in Shapes
A painting that has half geometric shapes and half organic shapes will not be very effective, because neither kind of shape will stand out.
However, if you have a painting filled with all geometric shapes and then you add one organic shape, that shape will create contrast, excitement, and interest..
When you look at a new piece of art, your brain starts looking for patterns, shapes, and anything else that is familiar to make you feel more connected to the piece.
Even if you don't “get” it, your brain is still going to work, trying to find meaning in what you're looking at..
The Art of Human Hacking While this book specifically addresses social engineering (surprise!), there are many psychological aspects that turn this into a very intriguing read on influence. The book has a somewhat antagonistic tone, but it fits with the subject matter.
Below are some of my favorite storage hacks for the art room. The best part about most of these is that they are student-friendly too! 1. Store “like” objects together. Like my cart article suggests, keep similar materials and supplies together to avoid running around your room to gather them. 2. Develop systems of sorting.
This art hack is for those of you who still struggle with copying drawings accurately from references. And while I have shared many articles in the past on how to master proportions, and draw different subjects realistically, this hack is helpful and would come in handy for many artists.
