Nov 26, 2022A unique collection of works originating from Asia, the HACL places a special emphasis on collecting and preserving literature from Southeast ,Stories from Asia presents the highlights of the 24,000-volume Asian Children's Literature Collection, curated by Singapore's National Library Board, and is a unique resource meticulously built up over half a century that is recognised by UNESCO as a nationally and internationally significant library collection.,The Asian Children's Literature (ACL) Collection is located on Level 9 of the National Library (Singapore) where a regular thematic showcase of children's books curated by our librarians can also be viewed on display.,The HACL, which comprises about 5,000 books produced from 1890-1990, has been officially added to the UNESCO MOWCAP Regional Register.
The collection features mainly fictional titles, including folk-tales, fairy tales, and historical fiction set in Asia.
What is the Asian library collection?
Apart from featuring unique and rare items from the collection, it also covers diverse topics such as the power of storytelling and imagination, Asian folktales, foreign perspectives of Asia and emergent Asian children’s literature. The collection is recognised by UNESCO as one of the “nationally and internationally significant library collection”.

Stories from Asia: The Asian Children’s Literature Collection presents highlights from the collection held in the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library. The collection, over 12,000-strong, is located on level 9 of the National Library Building.
