Astrophysics vs physics

As you can probably surmise
Getting a degree in astrophysics is fundamentally more rigorous than getting a degree in astronomy
By virtue of the difficulty inherent in studying physics and mathematics.
It's more accurate to say that an astrophysics major is really just short of getting a physics degree with some astronomy classes on the side.

Astrophysics is considered a subset/branch of astronomy that focuses on the physical processes of celestial objects and their respective regions in time and space.
It focuses primarily on the compositions
Energy systems
And the calculations behind the evolution of the universe.

Astrophysics is a largely applied field of physics though, in order to 'do' it, you need to be up to scratch with materials science, quantum physics, electromagnetism, chemistry, particle physics, nuclear physics and all of the stuff you do in straight physics degrees

The branch of astronomy or physics that deals with the physical properties of celestial bodies and with the interaction between matter and radiation in celestial bodies and in the space between them

The branch of science concerned with the study of properties and interactions of space, time, matter and energy
