Lee et al. presented a 3D computer CT image reconstruction method, where scan data is acquired using a CT scan and 3D reconstruction is used to obtain multi-planar reforming (MPR), maximum intensity projection (MIP), shadow surface display (SSD), and volume rendering technology (VRT). Reconstruction of medical CT images is performed using VRT.
Still, 3D reconstructions facilitate the understanding of complex fractures, especially in clinical conferences involving non radiological disciplines and thus may help to improve preoperative treatment planning. Generating 3D reconstructions using CR demands higher computational power than the less complex VRT algorithm.
