Consisting of conjunctions, prepositions and adverbs, connectives are words that link one part of a sentence with another.
Coordinating connectives perform the function of linking related words or phrases, while subordinating connectives link a phrase or clause with a dependent or subordinating clause.
There are many examples of connective words.
The three categories are "conjunctions" (as, and, but, if, or), "prepositions" (at, by, to), and "adverbs" (then, next, soon, later).
