In geometry, a pyramid (from Ancient Greek πυραμίς (puramís)) is a polyhedron formed by connecting a polygonal base and a point, called the apex.
Each base edge and apex form a triangle, called a lateral face.
It is a conic solid with a polygonal base.
A polygon is a two-dimensional figure, which is made up of line segments.
For example, square, triangle, hexagon, etc.
On the other hand, a polyhedron is a three-dimensional figure that is made up of polygons.
For example, tetrahedron, cube, etc.
A pyramid is a polyhedron for which the base is a polygon and all lateral faces are triangles.
In this lesson, we'll only concern ourselves with pyramids whose lateral faces are congruent — that is, they're the same size and shape.
Pyramid is a solid structure whose base could be any polygon.
