What frequency is 5G in Australia?
The majority of Australian 5G exists on the 3500MHz band, also known as n78. However, Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone have all begun repurposing some of their 3G and 4G bands to enhance their 5G networks. Telcos are also in the process of building mmWave 5G networks, that operate on the higher 26GHz frequency.
5G represents an evolution in telecommunication standards. To enable increased performance, 5G uses frequencies from three different frequency bands: below 1GHz (low frequency bands), 1-6 GHz (mid frequency bands) and above 24 GHz (high frequency bands).
