Factoring and Solving Quadratic Equations Worksheet

Step 1: Group the first two terms together and then the last two terms together.
Step 2: Factor out a GCF from each separate binomial.
Step 3: Factor out the common binomial.
Note that if we multiply our answer out, we do get the original polynomial.
To factor quadratic expressions of the form a x 2 + b x + c when a ≠ 1 , you need two numbers whose product is ac and whose sum is b.
Then, you can separate the bx-term using those two numbers, and factor by grouping.
Alternately, you can divide each of the numbers by a and put them as the 2nd term in a binomial.
