Unix shells have many command line flags to control their behavior. One of the most popular shell flags is -e. The -e flag in both Bourne Shell and C shell cause the shell to exit if any command fails.
What is flag Z Linux?
The -z option in bash scripting is a test operator that checks if a string is null. In simpler terms, it checks if the string is empty or not. It's often used in conditional statements like if, while, or until to control the flow of the script based on whether a string is empty.
Flags modify the operation of a command and are sometimes called options. A flag is set off by spaces or tabs and usually starts with a dash (-). Exceptions are ps, tar, and ar, which do not require a dash in front of some of the flags. For example, in the following command: ls -a -F.
What does bash C flag do?
bash -c is simply the bash command with the -c option. Like eval, bash -c executes command strings passed to it. It's also a potential security risk, albeit relatively less risky than eval.
