Chi-square Test for Trend
This is applied to a two-way contingency table in which one variable has two categories and the other has multiple mutually exclusive but ordered categories, to assess whether there is a difference in the trend of the proportions in the two groups.
For a Chi-square test, a p-value that is less than or equal to your significance level indicates there is sufficient evidence to conclude that the observed distribution is not the same as the expected distribution.
You can conclude that a relationship exists between the categorical variables.
A chi-square test is a statistical test used to compare observed results with expected results.
The purpose of this test is to determine if a difference between observed data and expected data is due to chance, or if it is due to a relationship between the variables you are studying.
The P-value is the area under the density curve of this chi-square distribution to the right of the value of the test statistic.
The final step of the chi-square test of significance is to determine if the value of the chi-square test statistic is large enough to reject the null hypothesis.
