The education system in Nepal is structured into Basic, secondary, and higher education and is governed by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. The history of education in Nepal can be traced back to ancient times when the Gurukula system was prevalent.
Nepal's first college was Tri-Chandra College, founded in 1918. Until 1985, Tribhuvan University was the country's only university. During the early 1980s, the government developed the concept of a multi-university system in which each school would have its own nature, content, and function.
Under full and partial school closure, if the schools offer remote learning then students rely on these opportunities to continue learning. In Nepal, among broadcast based remote learning tools, higher share of students have access to television than radio for most groups and provinces.
