aerobic exercise physiology lab
Does exercise physiology have a lab?
The Exercise Physiology Lab is used to study the acute responses and chronic adaptations to exercise.
The equipment in the lab allows for the investigation of a variety of physiological systems and fitness parameters. What happens physiologically during aerobic exercise?
During exercise, more blood is sent to the active skeletal muscles, and, as body temperature increases, more blood is sent to the skin.
This process is accomplished both by the increase in cardiac output and by the redistribution of blood flow away from areas of low demand, such as the splanch- nic organs. The test session includes cardiopulmonary exercise testing appropriate to the individuals needs and sport, lung function spirometry, body composition analysis, glucose, cholesterol, haemoglobin and haematocrit capillary blood testing and a full musculoskeletal assessment.
What is the difference between aerobic and anaerobic exercise lab?
Aerobic exercises are exercises that can be done continually for extended periods.
Anerobic exercises are ones that involve short bursts of intense activity.
Generally aerobic exercise is better for building endurance while anerobic exercise is better for building muscle, and strength.
