How do I maintain my instructor status with Aha?
Make sure that you have taught, either as the Lead or Assisting Instructor, 4 courses over the past 2 years.
If you have taught for other agencies where the paperwork was turned into another training center, please provide us with the rosters from those courses.How long is a BLS instructor certification good for?
Successful participants will receive a Basic Life Support Instructor certification and a Basic Life Support certification both valid for 2 years.
Follow These Steps to Become an AHA Instructor
Successfully complete the Instructor Essentials Course for the discipline for which you are becoming an Instructor, including both the online portion and the classroom/hands-on session.
- Teach a minimum of 4 classes in 2 years.
- Pass both the Provider and Instructor exams for each discipline taught.
- Complete Skills Verification for each discipline taught.
- Keep current with all updates from the AHA.
