Maladie provoquée par la transformation de cellules qui deviennent anormales et prolifèrent de façon excessive.

Les cellules cancéreuses ont tendance à envahir les tissus voisins et à se détacher de la tumeur.L'estimation du nombre total de décès par cancer s'élève en 2018, à 157 000 dont 57 % chez l'homme.
Le cancer responsable du plus grand nombre de décès par cancer chez l'homme reste le cancer du poumon (23 000).
Viennent ensuite les cancers colorectal et de la prostate (respectivement 9 000 et 8 000).
