  • How sweet is blackstrap molasses?

    With further boiling, molasses can be concentrated even more, allowing thermal decomposition to carbonize its remaining sugars into a black, bitter, and downright salty sludge.
    This, my friends, is blackstrap.
    It has a sugar content of only 45% and a whopping 1% of your daily sodium content in every spoonful.

  • What is brix of molasses?

    Cane Molasses is a by-product of the manufacture or refining of sucrose from sugar cane.
    It must not contain less than 46% total sugars expressed as invert.
    If its moisture content exceeds 27%, its density determined by double dilution must not be less than 79.50 Brix.

  • Blackstrap molasses is usually diluted with water to a standard brix of 79.5 degrees. The brix value indicates the specific gravity of the molasses in degrees. At 79.5 degrees brix molasses weighs 1.39 kg per litre. The undiluted blackstrap molasses is usually between 79 and 85 degrees brix.
