What are flucloxacillin capsules used for?

What is the bactericidal activity of flucloxacillin?
The bactericidal activity of Flucloxacillin results from the inhibition of cell wall synthesis and is mediated through flucloxacillin binding to penicillin binding proteins (PBPs). Flucloxacillin is stable against hydrolysis by a variety of beta-lactamases, including penicillinases, and cephalosporinases and extended spectrum beta-lactamases.
What should I know before taking flucloxacillin?
Regular monitoring of liver and kidney function should be performed whilst taking flucloxacillin for a long period of time. Tell your doctor that you are taking flucloxacillin if you are having urine tests or blood tests because it may affect the results.
Can flucloxacillin be used for diarrhoea?
In case of severe and persistent diarrhoea, the possibility of pseudomembranous colitis should be considered; flucloxacillin therapy should be discontinued. Contact with flucloxacillin should be avoided since skin sensitisation may occur. Caution is advised in patients with porphyria.
