What is a built up roof mean?
Built-Up Roofing, or BUR for short, first appeared around the mid 1800's.
It is a roofing system where multiple layers of asphalt get applied between ply sheets (or felts) over the roof deck and insulation.

What is hot applied roofing?
Hot-applied roof systems are typically made of asphalt/bituminous/tar-based products and are applied hot, or with heat, hence the name.
Some of these methods have been used for many years and are time-tested solutions.
What is hot built up roofing?
A BUR roof is a type of built-up roofing system composed of multiple layers of roofing material.
The layers are typically alternating hot asphalt and ply sheets, with a top layer of gravel or small stones.
BUR systems are also known as “built-up roofs” or “tar and gravel roofs.”_{7 mar. 2023}
