Enterprise COBOL for z/OS
IBM® Enterprise COBOL for z/OS® is a leading-edge z/OS-based compiler that helps you create and maintain mission-critical line-of-business COBOL applications to execute on your z/OS systems Enterprise COBOL for z/OS gives you access to CICS® DB2® IMSTM and other transactional and data systems |
Can I run COBOL V5 or V6 programs with Amode 24?
AMODE 24 execution of Enterprise COBOL V5.2 or V6 programs is supported in all the same cases as in earlier Enterprise COBOL compilers. Note: To run COBOL V5 or V6 programs with AMODE 24, you must compile all COBOL programs with Enterprise COBOL V5.1.1 or later versions; or Enterprise COBOL V4.2 or earlier versions.
When I add an Enterprise COBOL V5 or V6 program to an existing application?
When you add an Enterprise COBOL V5 or V6 program to an existing application, you are either recompiling an existing program with Enterprise COBOL V5 or V6 or including a newly written Enterprise COBOL V5 or V6 program. Note: You should use this Migration Guide only if you have completed the runtime migration to Language Environment®.
What is Enterprise COBOL for z/OS 6?
It has a new optimization framework and a new runtime library infrastructure (first introduced with COBOL 5) designed to increase the performance of business-critical COBOL applications. Enterprise COBOL for z/OS 6 provides advanced COBOL-specific optimizations and fully implements IBM® z/Architecture® (z10 through z16).
What is the difference between COBOL V5 and V6?
COBOL V5 and V6 support AMODE 24 is mostly the same as COBOL V4 with some bind-time differences: An Enterprise COBOL program that is compiled with the RMODE(24) or NORENT compiler options. A VS COBOL II program that is compiled with the NORENT option. An assembler program that contains a CSECT with RMODE 24.
