What is the theory of code-switching?
Code switching relies on the meaningful juxtaposition of what speakers must consciously or sub-consciously process as strings formed according to the internal rules of two distinct grammatical systems (Gumperz, 1982).
It means that code switching occurs when the speaker mixes two different languages in a speech.Stockwell describes that metaphorical code-switching occurs when the speaker deliberately shifts language codes in order to signal a new domain.
The problem here is that many metaphorical code-switching actually occurs even when the speakers are not conscious of the switch.
What is code-switching in linguistics examples?
Examples of code-switching include: A Spanish and English speaker saying, "Pero WHY do I have to go a la casa?" Or, "But WHY do I have to go home?" A speaker of Black Vernacular English saying, "We finna get to school on time today," instead of "we are going to get to school on time today."

If a speaker firstly uses code A (language) then she/he changes the code to code B (other language).
While code mixing is mixing two language or use both language together to in single utterance.
