In 2021, people aged 18–24 were most likely to use e-cigarettes among all adults.
Among adults aged 18 and over, 4.5% were current e-cigarette users, and use was higher among men (5.1%) compared with women (4.0%) (Figure 1).
Current e-cigarette use was highest among adults aged 18–24 (11.0%).
What is the UK report on vaping?
A higher proportion of men aged 16 years and over reported vaping daily or as an occasional user (9.5%) compared with women (7.9%) in 2022.
The total proportion of young people aged 16 to 24 years who were daily or occasional vapers in 2022 increased to 15.5% compared with 11.1% in 2021 (Figure 9).5 sept. 2023
Are e-cigarettes legal in the UK?
At present, you must be 18 or older to buy and use a vape in the UK.
Vape cartridges — the liquid that goes in them — must not hold more than two millilitres of liquid or contain more than 20 milligrams of nicotine per millilitre.
While selling vapes to under 18s is illegal, nicotine-free products can be sold.
