  • Brix can be measured in the field, on a plant, or at a shop.
    It indicates the number of dissolved solids in a liquid measured via its specific gravity (SG).
    One degree Brix is 1 g of sucrose in 100 g of solution (1 ∘ Brix = 1% sugar) [4,5,6,7,8].

    However, for hot samples in a warm environment then some cooling may be needed.

  • What is the temperature of the Brix meter?

    The temperature is 10°C~30°C (50°F~86°F) to minimize the effect of temperature on test results.
    Easy to use, put 2~3 drops of sample on the main prism, close the solar panel, and observe the brix reading through the eyepiece.

  • Does Brix change with temperature? Yes, the Brix measurement of a liquid fluctuates according to temperature. The Brix of a cold sample will appear higher than that of the same sample at room temperature. That is why an accurate Brix measurement needs to take temperature into account.
