How are anemometers calibrated?
Anemometers are calibrated in accordance to Annex F of IEC 61400-12-1 “Wind turbines – Part 12-1: Power performance measurements of electricity producing wind turbines”. Although the calibration procedure refers to cup anemometers, it is widely accepted for the calibration of any type of anemometer.
What is EURAMET calibration guide?
The purpose of this EURAMET Calibration Guide is to outline the basic technical requirements for the calibration of Thermal Anemometers (TAs) for calibration laboratories and for accreditation bodies. It is the second part of the series of guidelines concerning the calibration of solid anemometers. (see also reference ).
What are the requirements for a wind tunnel anemometer?
An assessment of measurement uncertainty shall be carried out in accordance with ISO guidelines. There are also special requirements for the wind tunnel. The presence of the anemometer shall not substantially affect the flow field in the wind tunnel. The flow across the area covered by the anemometer shall be uniform.
What happens if an anemometer is damaged?
In case any sign of damage, degradation, or irregular operation that could possibly have effect on the RR results, is identified on any of the anemometers used in he RR, then this anemometer must be discarded from the RR and the result obtained must not be used in the compilation of the RR results.
