What is the EU framework for State aid?
The State aid Temporary Framework was adopted on 19th March 2020 to enable Member States to use the full flexibility foreseen under State aid rules to support the economy in the context of the coronavirus outbreak.
Since its adoption, the Temporary Framework has been amended seven times [available in all EU languages].What is the EU law of State aid?
Therefore the Treaty generally prohibits State aid unless it is justified by reasons of general economic development.
To ensure that this prohibition is respected and exemptions are applied equally across the European Union, the European Commission is in charge of ensuring that State aid complies with EU rules.The regional aid guidelines set out the rules under which Member States can grant state aid to companies to support investments in new production facilities in the less advantaged regions of Europe or to extend or modernise existing facilities.
What is the de minimis Regulation for State aid?
The de minimis Regulation exempts small aid amounts from the scope of EU State aid control because they are deemed to have no impact on competition and trade in the internal market.
