Do I need EHIC for Italy?

The GHIC or EHIC entitles you to state- provided medical treatment necessary during your trip.
Any treatment provided is on the same terms as Italian nationals.
If you don't have your EHIC with you or you've lost it, contact the NHS Overseas Healthcare Team.Expats must have both their residency status finalized and have an Italian identity card in order to apply for an Italian insurance card or “tessera sanitaria”.
To receive the card, an expat has to go to their nearest health authority office, the ASL, and apply for the card with all their supporting documentation.
How do I get an EHIC card in Italy?
It is automatically issued to those who are entitled to it (provided that they are entitled to and are really residing in Italy).
You are entitled to an EHIC if you have previously been registered in one of the local authorities (ASL) of the National Health System.
