Urgent care is when your condition, illness or injury is not life-threatening, but you need medical care for which treatment cannot be delayed until you can return to your health plan's service area.
Your health plan must cover urgent care when you travel outside your plan's service area.Unless these facilities are performing invasive or surgical procedures or have inpatient capacity, they are not licensed by the Office of Health Care Quality.
The physicians and nurse practitioners at these facilities are required to be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians and Maryland Board of Nursing.
