Jan 19 2022 · A total of 621 51 TWh was traded on EPEX SPOT in 2021 (2020: 614 8 TWh) This represents a new all-time high breaking the record of the previous year 498 2 TWh were traded on the Day-Ahead segment and 123 3 TWh on the EPEX Intraday the latter being for the second consecutive year an all-time record (2020: 111 2 TWh) |
Why is EPEX SPOT trading a new all-time record?
This represents a new all-time trading record on EPEX SPOT markets, mainly driven by a strong performance of the Intraday markets in 2020. Intraday trading reached 111,188.5 GWh (2019: 91,864.0 GWh), a new annual record with a 21.0% growth rate on year.
What is the European Power Exchange EPEX SPOT?
The European Power Exchange EPEX SPOT operates the organised wholesale market for power trading across 13 European countries. 611 TWh have been traded on EPEX SPOT in 2022 – one third of the yearly European electricity consumption.
How many days a year does EPEX SPOT operate?
EPEX SPOT operates daily Day-Ahead auctions in all of its markets 365 days a year. Apart from Great Britain and Switzerland, all markets are part of the European Single Day-Ahead Coupling which stretches across 24 markets.. In all its coupled countries, EPEX SPOT is approved as Nominated Electricity Market Operator.
What is EPEX SPOT & ECC?
The offer was launched in close cooperation with European Commodity Clearing (ECC). 12,387.1 GWh have been traded on the Nordic Day-Ahead and 1,679.0 GWh on the Nordic Intraday markets in 2020. In October, EPEX SPOT and ECC successfully introduced Intraday auctions in Austria, Belgium, France and the Netherlands.
