  • How many prisons are in the US?

    All together the U.S. justice system includes 1,566 state prisons, 98 federal prisons, 3,116 local jails, 1,323 juvenile correctional facilities, 181 immigration detention facilities, and 80 tribal county jails, as well as in military prisons, civil commitment centers, state psychiatric hospitals, and prisons in U.S.

  • Each inmate must be approved to use the system and each person that an inmate wants to communicate with must give their permission to do so.
    Inmates access to TRULINCS is controlled and inmates do not have access to the internet.
    Messages can only contain text and no attachments are permitted.
