7zip password protect command line
Download the 7-Zip command line executable: 7z.exe.
This is the exe you will use to run commands on archives.
Tip For convenience and so you don't need to change environment paths, put the 7za.exe file in your user directory.
Next Open the Windows console and test the 7z.exe program out with a few commands.
How to password protect a Zip file with terminal?
Enter the command 'zip -er FILENAME. zip' without the quotes and replace FILENAME with what you want to name your encrypted zip file.
Add a space and drag the file/folder to the Terminal window, and press Return.
Enter password.
How to lock 7-Zip file with password?
In the "Archive" field, enter the name of the file or archive you want created.
From the "Archive format" field, select zip.
Under the "Encryption" section, enter a strong password or passphrase in the "Enter passphrase" field and again in the "Reenter passphrase" field.
Ensure the "Encryption method" is AES-256.
