font characteristics
Learning about the four main font categories—Serif, Sans Serif, Display, and Script—is an excellent place to start.

What are characters in fonts?
A character is a single unit of language, such as a letter or punctuation mark.
The term is closely related to—but not the same as—a glyph.
Every font has a Unicode character map that links (abstract) character IDs with how to display that character, using the default glyphs.
What are the features of a font?
A font can be neutral in character, then its scope of application will be quite broad, or it can have an expressive character: brutal, technological, elegant.
There are also other characteristics, in which fonts can differ: in width, stroke or letter contrast, or saturation.1 nov. 2022
