    European Food and Nutrition Action Plan 2015–2020 The intention of the Action Plan is to significantly reduce the burden of preventable diet-related noncommunicable diseases, obesity and all other forms of malnutrition still prevalent in the WHO European Region. It calls for action through a whole-of- government, health-in-all-policies approach.

    The Action Plan is intended to support the coordinated, comprehensive implementation of national strategies, action plans and policies for improving food system governance, minimizing nutritional risk factors and reducing the prevalence of diet-related diseases, with an emphasis on integration throughout life.

    To maximise the impact of the Action Plan on Nutrition, the European Commission had identified 42 countries of strategic priority for its support to nutrition (2014-2020).
