How do you write a report for multiple readers?
Reports are often written for multiple readers, for example, technical and financial managers. Writing two separate reports would be time-consuming and risk ofending people who are not party to all of the information. One solution to this problem is strategic use of appendices (see page 5). 3. How do you write a report?
Set the objectives for your report before you start writing. Note them down and check that you are keeping to them, even during the last stages of production. If you don’t take time to clarify your objectives, writing the report will be more dificult, understanding it even more so and you may not achieve the desired response.
How should a report be arranged?
Your material should be ordered in a logical and coherent way throughout the report, so be ready to cut out any irrelevant material. It is not enough to just present the data and information you have gathered; you must an-alyse it and apply it according to the issue outlined in your report brief.
How should a research report be presented?
Your results should be presented in a logical order, and without comments (the discus-sion of these findings are reserved for the main body of the report). In this section, you analyse and discuss the evidence you have gathered with specific reference to the problem or issue.
