If b > 0, then the factored form of the trinomial is (x + d )(x + e).
If b < 0, then the factored form of the trinomial is (x - d )(x - e).

1Multiply the coefficients a and c and determine their product ac.
2) Circle the pair in the list produced in step 1 whose sum equals b, the coefficient of the middle term of ax2+bx+c.
