How long after a positive COVID-19 test do you remain contagious?
You may remain contagious after 5 days of isolation.
Continue to wear a well-fitting and high quality mask or respirator around others at home and in public for 5 additional days (day 6 through day 10) after the end of your 5-day isolation period.What are the recommendations for COVID-19?
Staying Home When You Have Suspected or Confirmed COVID-19
If you have COVID-19, you can spread it to others, even if you do not have symptoms.
If you have symptoms, get tested and stay home until you have your results.
If you have tested positive (even without symptoms), follow CDC's isolation recommendations.People with moderate or severe COVID-19 should isolate through at least day 10.
Those with severe COVID-19 may remain infectious beyond 10 days and may need to extend isolation for up to 20 days.
People who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should isolate through at least day 20.
What precautions should be taken in COVID-19?
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, throw the tissue away, and then wash their hands right away.
Wash with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
If possible, stay in a bedroom and use a bathroom separate from other people in the home.
