8086 microprocessor architecture tutorialspoint
The Program Status Word (PSW) contains status bits that reflect the current CPU state.
It is a 16-bit register, seven bits remain unused while the rest nine are used.
Out of nine bits, six are status flags and three are control flags.
The 8th bit represents the trap flag.
How is pipelining achieved in 8086 microprocessor?
This process of fetching the next instruction when the present instruction is being executed is called as pipelining.
In pipelining, when the nth instruction is executed, the (n+1) th instruction is fetched and thus the processing speed is increased.
Pipelining has become possible due to the use of queue.
