What is an annotated bibliography?
An annotated bibliography is a piece of formal academic writing and follows the general rules for all academic writing: The writing structure will depend on the lecturer’s requirements for the task. The bibliographical information may be descriptive (see points 1–3 below) or descriptive+evaluative (see points 1–5 below).
What is an annotation in a citation?
An annotation, a brief (250-500 words) descriptive and evaluative paragraph, follows each citation. The purpose of the annotation is to detail and critique the relevance, accuracy and quality of the source cited. Annotations are not simply abstracts.
