  • What are the three stages of creep behavior?

The creep data in this plot can be subdivided into three categories (also called stages or regions): primary, steady state, and tertiary creep.
These occur sequentially as shown in Figure 2.32.
Initially, when the stress is applied, there is an initial strain that is an elastic component to the strain.

  • The three stages of creep are primary, secondary, and tertiary.
The primary stage experiences strain hardening, the secondary stage shows a steady-state with constant strain rate, and tertiary stage is characterised by strain rate acceleration leading to failure or rupture.

  • What is the ternary stage of creep related to?

Ternary Creep: Creep rate increases with time until fracture occurs at this stage.
Tertiary creep can occur due to necking of the specimen or grain boundary sliding at high temperature and this continues until specimen fractures.

  • What is the tertiary stage of creep?

In the later stage of creep phenomenon, called tertiary creep, voids are the main agents of deformation.
They generally nucleate at grain boundaries that are normal to the tensile stress.
Continued creep strain results from the growth of voids and eventual coalescence of voids leading to fracture.

  • Ternary stage creep is associated with necking. Explanation: Creep is the time-dependent deformation that occurs in a material under a constant load or stress.Autres questions
