-u : The -u flag creates a tracking reference for every branch that you successfully push onto the remote repository.
The local branch you push is automatically linked with the remote branch.
This allows you to use commands such as git pull without any arguments.
What does add flag mean in git?
It means the current directory.
So, git add . adds all files and folders located in the current directory including hidden files/folders. -a flag is the shorter version of the --all flag, and as can be inferred it means adding all files and folders, but isn't that what git add .
What does git branch flag do?
Listing your branches, by default, will only show your local branches' names.
Adding the "-a" flag will make sure remote branches are also included in the list.
Adding the "-v" flag will make the command more "verbose" and include SHA-1 hashes as well as commit subjects of the latest commits on your branches.
What is the use of flag in git?
By using the -a flag when committing you are telling Git to add all files that have been modified and then commit them.
This runs into issues with new files, though.
Since the -a flag only adds modified files it will not add new files or deleted files.11 oct. 2021
