why is it important to remember the six language arts when you are teaching
What is important in teaching and learning language?
To become discerning, lifelong learners, students at all grades need to develop fluency and confidence in their oral language abilities.
They benefit from many opportunities to listen and speak both informally and formally for a variety of purposes.
Reading and writing are powerful means of communicating and learning. Why is teaching language arts important?
Language arts helps us to take in the thoughts and ideas of others and to express our own.
Developing skills in the six areas helps us to be prepared for the types of tasks life throws at us, from telling a loved one we care about them to interpreting data from a chart, and everything in between. Why is memory important in learning a language?
Memory, in all its forms, is critical to language.
Because language is sequential, we need short-term memory (working memory) as a moving window of consciousness if we are to integrate over time to make sense of sentences, and indeed stories.By reading interesting books and stories, students are able to learn the elements of grammar, spelling, vocabulary, writing mechanics, research, and other skills.
Some literature based language arts curriculum also includes instruction in phonics to teach reading.
