  • As a general rule, the heavier the game you hunt, the heavier your bullet should be.
This is because heavier slugs always carry more energy.
In a given caliber, they will also have longer shanks which aid in maintaining momentum for deeper penetration.

  • How much does 9 mm ammo weigh?

9mm bullets weigh 115 to 147 grains (7.5 to 9.5 grams). 9mm handguns can range from about 1 pound to almost 3.5 pounds, empty.15 juil. 2022

  • Does bullet weight matter in 9mm?

The most common heavy 9mm bullet is 147 grain, and they go as low as 100-115 grains.
While grain is important for whatever bullet you're shooting, it matters far more in long-range marksmanship than short-range self-defense.
So don't get too hung up on grain regarding handgun rounds.

  • Is 124gr better than 115gr?

Some shooters prefer the slightly lighter and faster 115 grain round.
On the other hand, others favor the smoother shooting (less felt recoil which allows for faster follow up shots) and slightly improved ballistic characteristics of the 124 grain round.

  • Common bullet weights for 9mm include 115gr, 124gr, 125gr, and 147gr. Generally speaking, heavier bullets hit harder, have more recoil, and are more expensive. Most people practice with 115gr ammo, and carry heavier stuff for personal defense.
