What does an apple audit consist of?
Apple audits include physical factory inspections, interviews with randomly selected employees, and reviews of hundreds of records. Our team grades the supplier’s level of compliance with each item of the Code. We also evaluate the strength of the underlying management systems and identify areas for improvement.
How many suppliers are audited by Apple in 2020?
The 2020 Supplier Responsibility Report was created based on interviews with 52,000 workers, with Apple auditing suppliers in 49 countries, up from 30 in 2018. There were 1142 total audits in 2019. Some additional highlights from the report: $1.3 million in recruitment fees were repaid to employees in 2019.
What happens when a supplier is audited?
If the audit reveals the need for improvement, the supplier must submit a corrective action plan that addresses not only the specific violation, but also the management system needed to prevent reoccurrence. Apple requires that many findings — such as health and safety violations — be corrected immediately.
