  • What is the ISO standard for A-weighting?

    A-weighting is the most commonly used of a family of curves defined in the International standard IEC 61672:2003 and various national standards relating to the measurement of sound pressure level.

  • What is the A scale sound level?

    The A-weighted sound level discriminates against low frequencies, in a manner similar to the response of the ear.
    In this setting, the meter primarily measures in the 500 to 10,000 Hz range.
    It is the weighting scale most commonly used for OSHA and DEQ regulatory measurements.

  • What humans are physically capable of hearing is represented by the A-Weighting curve.
    Acoustic sound contains more lower and higher frequencies than humans perceive.
    The C-Weighting curve represents what humans hear when the sound is turned up; we become more sensitive to the lower frequencies.
