What is a BERI Index?
Probably the best known approach among the risk assessment concepts is the BERI index (see Meyer, 1987, p. 91 ff.; Hake, 2004 ). The BERI index is essentially a two-stage scoring model which, in addition to a risk assessment, also includes a recommendation regarding the market entry strategy to be chosen. The index consists of three sub-indices:

According to this, the authors propose to name the modified BERI model as the «BERIC model» (Business Environment Risk Index Comparative), so it reflects the method of the country risk assessment based on the authors’ modification of the country risk comparative analysis.
