Do you need to bull float concrete?
Finished concrete is intended to be flat and floating helps achieve that.
It is important to float the concrete before excess moisture or bleed water rises to the surface and accumulates.
Excess water can significantly weaken concrete; therefore, floating must occur before too much water bleeds to the surface.What is the purpose of the bull float?
What it is: The bull float is a magnesium blade that is initially run across the surface of the slab in the finishing process.
Purpose: Bull floats correct imperfections in the initial screeding process.Typically, channel floats have high side channels, which can push greater amounts of concrete around.
Bull floats have blade lengths of 24 to 60 inches and are also used for large areas.
Both types of floats have adjustable handles and leveling head brackets.
Handles are adjustable and can extend 4 to 16 feet long.
Can I use a Fresno as a bull float?
Fresnos are large trowels that attach to bull float handles.
Fresnos are used for troweling slabs that do not require a hard trowel surface.
A Fresnos will speed up the troweling process.
Fresnos should not be used as bull floats.
