bitwise programming
What is a bitwise operator?
Bitwise Operators are used for manipulating data at the bit level, also called bit level programming. Bitwise operates on one or more bit patterns or binary numerals at the level of their individual bits. They are used in numerical computations to make the calculation process faster. What are Bitwise Operators?
What is a bitwise XOR?
The bitwise XOR may be used to invert selected bits in a register (also called toggle or flip). Any bit may be toggled by XORing it with 1. For example, given the bit pattern 0010 (decimal 2) the second and fourth bits may be toggled by a bitwise XOR with a bit pattern containing 1 in the second and fourth positions:
How does bitwise or perform logical disjunction at the bit level?
The most significant bit of the first number is 1 and that of the second number is also 1 so the most significant bit of the result is 1; in the second most significant bit, the bit of second number is zero, so we have the result as 0. Similar to bitwise AND, bitwise OR performs logical disjunction at the bit level.
