aboriginal flag australian fires
How did aboriginals make fire?
The Aboriginal 'tool-kit' was based on the skilful use of controlled friction and tinder.
Methods included rubbing a woomera (spear thrower) against a wooden shield or log while adding tinder and blowing.
Another technique was the fire drill which involved a spinning rod in a cavity creating frictional heat. What does the Aboriginal flag symbolize?
The flag's design consists of a coloured rectangle divided in half horizontally.
The top half of the flag is black to symbolise Aboriginal people.
The red in the lower half stands for the earth and the colour of ochre, which has ceremonial significance.
The circle of yellow in the centre of the flag represents the sun.
